Thomas M. Oliva was born and raised in New York City. After graduating from City College of New York in 1980, Thomas obtained his J.D. degree from Hofstra University in 1988. Prior to joining the firm, Thomas had a successful career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted cases in the Special Victims Unit dealing with abuse and domestic violence against woman and children, and inappropriate conduct by clergy members. After leaving the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, Thomas volunteered his time as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Thomas then spent over fifteen years successfully defending medical malpractice cases on high exposure matters. Thomas now brings to Wingate, Russotti & Shapiro his extensive experience handling complex medical issues and representing clients and families who have been severely traumatized. He speaks Spanish and is a member of the Puerto Rican Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association.

Thomas is part of our trial attorney team that handles medical malpractice and product’s liability cases. He currently resides in Queens with his wife and two sons.
