Amputation, $1.2 Million Recovery
Plaintiff, a 67 year-old woman on disability because of a severe back condition, developed leg pain six months after a back operation (laminectomy). Her internist misdiagnosed the condition as a neurologic problem rather than vascular disease. She left the country, against doctor's advice, and developed an acute vascular occlusion of her leg, which had to be amputated. We claimed that had the internist diagnosed her condition earlier, her leg could have been saved despite her conduct.
